Class of 2028

We were so happy to have Mrs Carter come to our class on SCARF day to listen to us read. 
 

This week, we had not only Mrs Carter but also Year 5 students as well as a parent visit to read with us. We love showing off our readings skills to our Roose Community! 
 

We have been learning all about Kings and Queens and the role they played in society. We decided to ‘act out’ the role in our classroom and make some laws for our classroom. We had so much fun! 
 

We are very proud to have had a student from Year 1 win the annual Christmas card competition! We had spent time drafting, redrafting and then redoing our cards to make sure we were entering quality work…we are overjoyed that our students hardwork has paid off! 

We made a delicious batch of peppermint creams with a special visitor…Miss Halligan’s Mum! A simple, festive recipe which we all enjoyed making!

We had a FANTASTIC and very festive day celebrating Christmas with our class mates as well as taking a trip to ‘The Forum’ to watch the first performance of ‘Cinderella’. Many thanks to our wonderful Year 1 team and helpers for getting us to the venue safely. We had a fun filled day and enjoyed…

The boys and girls have made such a huge effort with their handwriting this term and, as you can see, it is really paying off and we can’t wait to share more of their fantastic work. 
 

We had a brilliant day wearing our Christmas jumpers to school. 
 

We are grateful to ‘Green Watch’ who visited our class to help us learn more about modern day firefighting as part of our Great Fire of London topic. What a fantastic afternoon we had!

Each week we have been making a huge effort to read at home at least 5 times. This week many of the year boys and girls read 7, 8 or 9 times with a grown up outside of school. We are very proud of our reading journey so far! 
 

Year 1 have been working hard at home to get 'Strive for Five'.  Every week, during Autumn 2, over 20 boys and girls have read over 5 times at home with a parent, caregiver, grandparent or sibling.

This week Year 1 had a brilliant time recreating the timeline of 'The Great Fire of London'.  We identified key moments using different sources and the put our acting skills in to gear.
