During the first half term's music lessons, Year 6 learned 'A New Year's Carol' by Benjamin Britten. These two videos show their progress from the first time we sang along to the track to singing with the backing track only at the end of term. The lyrics and tune were old fashioned and challenging. Alongside learning about the background and history of Britten's music, we also explored different genres of music; their characteristics and origins, including, punk, folk, reggae and hip hop. This class of children LOVE to sing and are always interested and enthusiastic in music.
